COVID-19 Update Oct1st ,2020

The Oceanside Hospice Society Resource Centre located at 210 Crescent Road W, Qualicum Beach, is now open to the public.  Please note the following information and protocols as we move forward:

November 19, 2020 Update from Oceanside Hospice Society.

On behalf of the Oceanside Hospice Society board, staff, and volunteers, we want you to know that you are not alone during this unsettling time. Most importantly, we are committed to ensuring our clients continue to receive the care and services they need.  We continue to take all necessary precautions to safeguard our clients, staff, and volunteers’ health and well-being.

As the numbers continue to rise in the Mid-Island region, we acknowledge that each of us has different comfort levels around the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Therefore, as a preventive measure and out of concern to protect our community’s most vulnerable, the Oceanside Hospice Society Board of Directors has made the decision to close the Resource Centre to the public until further notice.

The Board of Directors has made the following decisions related to Hospice Services in the Oceanside Area:

  • We are offering all clients support and counselling either by phone or virtually by Zoom.
  • We accept new intakes by telephone and connect new clients with supporting staff or volunteers for phone support.
  • We welcome those interested in using Hospice programs to contact us by phone or email (please see numbers below).
  • We have suspended all groups, wellness clinics, walking groups, Advance Care Planning sessions at the Resource Centre and other settings.
  • Our Resource Centre in Qualicum will be staffed Monday to Friday from 9 till 4 pm to answer calls and emails.
  • Our Medical Equipment Loan program continues to operate, delivering medical equipment such as beds, walkers, commodes, wheelchairs etc., to palliative patients keeping them comfortable at home.
  • The scheduled Celebration of Life will now be streamed virtually; please call the office for further details.
  • The Annual Memory Tree has been cancelled.  However, we encourage you to email your message to info@oceansidehospice.com, and we would be happy to place a tribute on the tree on your behalf.
  • The scheduled Light the Way campaign continues to be well supported, and we are committed to providing our community with a beautiful holiday display.

Stay safe and as always, thank you for your kindness and support – this would be a very tough road without you!

Oceanside Hospice Society Board of Directors.
